Another Vest

I really liked the Love Notions Easton Vest I made in black (which I just realized I actually never posted). I still had some eyelash sweater knit left over from my Toaster Sweater. I thought I had just enough to make a me sized vest.

I did take in the sides especially under the arms. It just feels too large a gap in the underarm area. I also shortened the length of the vest. It hits on my waist/hip area.

The pattern does not call for a band on the bottom, but….you know how I feel about hemming! If I can add a band I always will. I also wanted a v-neck version. I love me a v-neck but boy are they little tricksters to complete. This one does not look all that bad. I did a lot of hand basting to get it to lay correctly.

Not only did this turn out super cute, but I used all but a few scrap pieces of the fabric. I saved them thinking they would make an interesting cuff on a sweatshirt in the future. The one side of the v neck band is laying a little wonky but not enough to bother me. Honestly I look at ready to wear clothes in stores and think hmm….maybe I am a better sewer than I think because the workmenship on this item is junk!

I can wear it over a tshirt (probably what I will be doing), but I could just wear it without a shirt underneath like all the cool kids.
