Pete the Cat Skort

It is nice that when I mess up cutting out fabric I can usually “fix” my mistakes. (Of course it would be even nicer if I did not mess up in the first place but that is not likely to happen). My class mascot is Pete the Cat (a book character). Jen’s fabric opened her vault many months ago and I purchased Pete the Cat swim fabric. The plan was to use it to make myself a Sinclair Skye Skort (it will be my 4th version). I do not know why I only ordered a yard of this fabric. I needed another 1/2 yard to truly get the flounce on the skirt. Of course the vault is not currently open so really not an option to buy more.

I had to make it work with what I had. Some creative cutting, etc had to be engineered. Well that did not really work so once I got over my mad I cut the flounce out of the material I used for the shorts portion.

It did not turn out exactly as envisioned but I still think it looks nice. These are such a wonderful spring/summer item for the wardrobe. They are dressy without going overboard.

Of course I made another sewing boo boo and attached the lining side of the waistband to the outside. No one but me will know because of the top stitching (both the lining and outside are same fabric - maybe part of why I didn’t have enough to cut the flounce).
