The Homecoming Hoodie

A few weeks ago Patterns for Pirates released a new hoodie/dress pattern, the Homecoming Hoodie. I had just bought some more sweatshirt material (don’t judge, it is a stunning color).

I decided to make the dress version and of course added a hood. The sewing was very straight forward until the hood attachment.

Normally I do not put grommets in my hoodies. This is because I dislike having hoodie strings near my face and neck. I decided to try the grommet option in this pattern. I have put in quite a few grommets by this point but do you think I can remember how to do it exactly correctly? The answer is no. One looks great (the second one), my first looks like it was run over by a truck.

After I wear the dress I will decide if I want to insert hoodie strings. Probably should not draw any more attention to the mangled grommet.

The hardest part of this project with the sleeve cuffs. I thought I had measured the length needed to make the cuffs but it appears like I did not do that correctly. I cut out another set after measuring again and it was better but I still had to insert basting stitches on the sleeve end to cinch it in enough to attach the cuff.

I love hoodie dresses, now if I just lived in a place where it was not 100 degrees still on October:(

This is a great pattern and I would like to make a regular hoodie version next, not another dress.
