Another Sloane Sweater (5th make of 2024)
I really love the fit of the Love Notions Sloane Sweater pattern. I think this might be the third one I have made. The pattern fits well and is easy to sew. For this version I used a yard piece of faux cashmere I had picked up somewhere.
Now it would not be me if all the sewing went as planned. I did not have enough to make it long sleeved. This is not really an issue. I am a lady of a certain age who often runs hot. Long sleeves are many times not my friend. I prefer a 3/4 length sleeve or an above the elbow.
The other issue is a small hand sewing repair i had to make on the back underside of the main shirt. I got over eager when using my snips to cut threads on the serger and nicked the fabric. This is not hte first time i had made this extra work for myself. The other time luckily it was very near the seam so i was able to just serge over it. I was not so lucky this time. The material is a sweater knit so I simply darned the tiny little hole and no one but me will be the wiser.
The fabric feels delicious to sew and on the body. The only disappointment with the sew is the ability of the fabric to pill simply by being looked at by the wearer. I wore it to work and the sleeves pilled sometime terrible. I have already had to get my sweater shaver out to clean it up. The color is perfection and I paired it with a pair of gray slacks for a comfortable but classy work outfit.
