Bread Crumbs
I found myself with extra bread on hand. I hate to see the waste so I got out my food processor to make some bread crumbs. I also had just recently used up the last of the bread crumbs I had in the freezer.
You do need a food processor to make the crumbs. I imagine you might be able to make it with a blender but not too sure. If you don't have either of those appliances you could still make croutons to use up the bread.
I just tear up the bread into smaller chunks and pulse the food processor off and on until they are the consistency I desire. I actually made 3 different kinds. I used a Texas Toast half loaf I had, some other white bread I had bought for my daughter and multigrain whole wheat bread my husband had purchased. You can use any kind of bread you have on hand. Homemade bread makes delicious crumbs. Usually in March I make a loaf of Irish Soda bread to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. It makes a very nice and hardy crumb.
After the bread is in crumbs I just place it into a freezer bag. It lives in the freezer until I need some crumbs. Much better and cheaper than buying a canister of bread crumbs from the grocery.
