Cooking Bacon
I love bacon and we eat quite a bit at my house. Not at every meal, but that is a thought LOL. A few years ago I happened upon a blog post that recommended you cook bacon in the oven. I haven't fried bacon on the stovetop in years. My stove and back kitchen wall can get greasy enough from my cooking without adding bacon grease to the mix thank you very much.
I simply turn on the oven to about 350F degrees. I lay mine on a cookie sheet covered in aluminum foil. You should make sure the baking sheet has lips on all sides (otherwise the grease from the bacon cooking will go all over inside the oven - don't ask me how I know :(
I bake them until I am satisfied with the color. Once you cook 5-6 strips this way you will be hooked. You might not need all those strips at the time you bake them but wait for it. Once you have precooked bacon it is amazing all the uses you can find for it. Baked potatoes, salad, easier breakfast time in the morning - possibilities are endless. Cooked bacon will keep a day or two in the fridge if properly stored.
If you want to collect the bacon grease (it does make an excellent oil for frying potatoes) just pour if off. You can see my super fancy method for getting the extra oil off my bacon with paper towels. I run a super high class real house with actual people living and enjoying life.
