First Finished Crochet FO

Well do not get too excited my Peeps - I began the object in question in 2023. My Granny Pop Pullover is finished.

Most of the gory details are over on my Ravelry project page. The pattern is by MJ's Off the Hook Designs. I used Lion Brand Mandala yarn in the Pixie colorway. I made the medium size. It used almost 3 skeins of the yarn. I have 127 grams leftover. To match the sleeves and body I had to cut into the skeins to find the matching stripes.

The hold up was the bottom band. I had to redo it 4 times! The directions could have been clearer. The first band I crocheted on was way too many stitches - it looked terrible. I then got the brilliant idea to rewatch part of the video she has on Youtube. Oh, I was misreading the band directions almost completely. I frogged the band I had on and re worked it using the correct stitch sequence. It certainly looked much better but the band was a little (okay, quite a bit) too tight. Also once I had it on I thought I should add more length. I am a mature woman of a certain age and body shape - let's say ain't no one wanting to see me in a crop top. It was traumatic enough for my daughter to see me in the sweater with the incorrect foundation layer. She almost begged me to please wear it with something more underneath Mom!

Anywoo now we had 2 band attempts completed, neither of which would serve. The band was frogged again and reworked. I tried changing the stitch count to give the band a little more give. It was not as tight as before but still not what I wanted in a band.

Finally with attempt number 4 I got the band recipe almost perfected or at least good enough for me.

If you notice the little Kitty treat box by my body double that is all that is left from a failed cat Christmas present. Our Miss Kitty prefers to drink water from anywhere other than her water bowl. Her favorite is demanding that you fill a small cup for her and place it on the ledge of the bathtub or in front of the shower stall. She will then deign to drink the water presented to her. I foolishly thought she might like a cat water fountain - it is a green base and the water runs up and through a flower at the top. At least that is the version Santa provided. Turns out my cat was slightly terrified of the item in question and gave it a wide berth. In addition when running everyone in my house kept looking to see which water faucet was mistakenly left running.

The box it arrived in is the only reminder. The company cleverly encourages you to cut the circle holes in the box to make it another cat diversion activity. Miss Kitty actually does quite enjoy this portion of the present. We put a few cat treats inside and it is off to the races.

The offending water fountain has been returned without the box. My DH believes no one returns this fountain with the actual original box. Peace has been restored to her kingdom.
