July First Reads

I hit a bit of a not very enjoyable book patch last week. I tried 3 different books and abandoned each one after about 30 pages. The books just did not hold my interest and I found the writing in each disjointed. Despite those issues I did manage a few finishes. Five Children and It by Edith Nesbit (not a high recommendation), Fifty Words for Rain by Ashe Lemmie (again not a very hearty recommendation) and A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn. The beginning of a series which I might end up continuing.

Car Audio

Animal Dreams by Barbara Kingsolver. The setting is Arizona, which is in my neck of the woods so to speak. Another book that for me is better as an audio rather than a physical read.

Ipod Audio

State of Wonder by Ann Patchett. I am almost halfway through this book. This is an excellent book as an audio. I probably would not have continued reading the book in its physical form.

Hardcover Book

The House at Riverton by Kate Morton. This is not the first book I have read from this author. The book is marketed as like Downton Abby. I can see the resemblance in parts (though I have just started it and it is a big book), but it is not a clone. The settings shift due to time periods. It begins just before WWI in a very large English estate house (I think that is the Downton Abby look alike portion).
