July Reads
I finished Book of Ages: Life and Opinions of Jane Franklin by Jill Lepore. I don't recommend it, too dry and I just never felt a narrative flow. It read like this was her doctoral dissertation. One good thing is that either her or the editor can cite sources correctly. The book "story" itself was only 41% of the book (I love how kindle gives you percentages:). The remainder of the book was appendices (A-G) and citations.
Kindle Ebook
Car Audio
Animal Dreams by Barbara Kingsolver. I am getting closer to the end 70% completed/listened. there is less driving/listening time in the summer. Also it has been so hot I have to run errands in the morning before the heat becomes truly unbearable.
Ipod Audio
State of Wonder by Ann Patchett. Not much further along. I am attending a virtual teaching conference. I knit during the sessions. Normally I knit to an audio book.
Hardcover Book
The House at Riverton by Kate Morton. I did read a little more in the book. It is not that exciting - I think I have already figured out the "mystery."
The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow. This book will make much more "sense" if you have read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. You can read it as a stand alone, well written book, but much more enjoyable if you know a little backstory. This is a first novel and I am impressed.
