Mason Jar Salads

I have made mason jar salads in the past. With my current prepping and storing fruit in jars mania I thought I should add salad to the mix. There are tons of youtube videos and web pages that have recipes.

Of course I do mine a little differently - are you surprised? My DH loves a good salad but that is not all he wants for his lunch. He likes them as a side salad. I also have tiny little containers for salad dressings. Like most homes in the world we rarely all eat the same exact dressing on our salads.

When I prep the salads I put in basic ingredients that everyone in the family will eat: lettuce greens and carrots. All other additions have to be prepped and added later. You know how it is: one person doesn't like tomatoes or mushrooms on their salads, another dislikes cucumbers, etc the list goes on and on. I work around the requests because I want my family to actually eat these salads.

If the basic ingredients are already prepped and in a jar in the fridge everyone eats more salad. Add what you would like as you make it. This is an easy meal prep. You can prep the jars on a Sunday evening and have salad all week until Friday. the Friday salad will be as fresh as the one you pulled out on Monday. What is that movie saying: if you build it they will come. If you prep it they will eat it!

You just need to remember a bowl and utensil to put the salad into to eat and you are off to the lunch races.
