My Crochet Era Dress
I am beyond thrilled with my latest crochet make. It is a version of the Taylor Swift version she wore in London this summer. It took me 2 months to finish (but I was working on lots of other items in between). I was gifted quite a bit of Cascade Yarns UltraPima mercerized cotton in various colors. It was the correct yarn weight for the pattern I selected. The pattern is from HanJan Crochet, a delightful British crocheter. The pattern came with a video tutorial which was so helpful. The pattern is free on her website, but I like to support makers so I purchased a copy.
If you go back on the blog you will catch glimpses of this dress during the making. I did add extra length but still was able to work the pattern just fine.
I seamed the sides with slip stiches. I added the preferred edging on all of the parts I wanted, neckline, bottom edge and edge of each sleeves.
Frankly I just love everything about this make. The color scheme I selected is not one I probably would have chosen if I purchased the yarn but it totally works in this pattern. Now I just need to wait for cooler weather to enjoy wearing. I have a beige slip I plan on wearing underneath. I tried them both on and it looks great. I went with the cap sleeves. The long sleeves seemed like it might make the dress a little too heavy - also I dislike when shoulder caps hang off of my actual shoulder. I believe my next crochet make will be a different pattern from the same designer.
