My Reading Week
I began and finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Not recommended it unless you like reading postapocalyptic novels. I know it won major literary prizes. It just seemed so pretentious, one of those books you read only to brag about how you read it. I place any novel by James Joyce and the play Waiting for Godot in this same category. You think, well there is part of my reading life I wasted and will never get back.
Kindle Ebook
Prague Winter: A Personal Remembrance and War, 1937-1948 by Madeline Albright. No further along, still stuck in 1942.
Hardcover Book
A Game of Fear by Charles Todd. This will be a fast read. It is overdue at the library and I am getting hurry up and return it messages. I adore this series. It is a son and mother writing team and they are excellent writers. They are mysteries set in the 1920s in England. The main character is haunted by his WWI experience.
Car Audio
The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles. I had forgotten how you become so involved in his books. I want to keep driving just to continue to listen. This is a problem, especially with the price of gas. SOme parts are hard to listen to - you are so involved with the characters you don't want the tragedies to occur.
Ipod Audio
The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. I'm about 16% into this book. My goodness who thought a book about bibilical characters would contain so much about sex. Oh wait a minute, yeah it would since there is much about how begets who in the Old Testament. Anyway the parts I just listened to I thought very racy considering i thought this would be a more sedate book.
