New Unmentionables
I have wanted to try making at least one pair of underwear for myself for a few years. I have had the Feeling Frisky pattern from Ellie & Mac for quite a while. One day I want to sew myself a bathing suit and have to start somewhere. I thought scraps of knit fabric from other projects might be cheaper than buying swimsuit fabric for my experiment.
I did have to watch the video sew along for the pattern I found on youtube. I am sure the pattern directions are very clear but I sometimes have difficulty actually imaging how the pattern fits together unless I can see it visually.
You might recognize the fabric. I used it to make myself a pair of pajama pants earlier this year. Now I have a matching set of undies and pj pants!
I made the mid-rise selection in the pattern. They are actually some of the nicest fitting underwear I have ever worn. I swear the fabric placement was just how it worked out I was not trying to get fabric placement for the map symbol.
This project has made me more confident in my belief that I will be able to complete a swimsuit for myself at some point. I will want to make more to perfect the process. I might also want to find a boxer like pattern for fuller coverage in a bathing suit bottom.
