Sewing A New Robe - Part I

I have two robes. One for winter and another for summer. Frankly I have "issues" with both of them. Quite a few weeks ago Love Notions had their Compose robe pattern on sale and I scooped up a copy. I am making my first version as a banded robe (no hooded version for me). I am using collection fabric - Steeler fleece. I did not have quite enough of the original fleece to make the bands. Luckily I have another Steeler fleece pattern in the collection so will be using that for the bands.

I dislike having too much fleece in the fabric collection. Fleece takes up a lot of real estate in the fabric closet. I also live in the desert so do not have much use for heavy fleece like fabrics. A few projects that use heavy fabric are enough for my wardrobe.

I did manage to get the fleece all cut out. Except for the band. I will be playing with that piece a little later.

According to my measurements I am in between sizes (of course!). I cut the shoulder seams with the smaller size. I hate dropped shoulders on clothing. Due to my petite size dropped shoulders always end somewhere around my elbow. Another reason I like to sew for myself - I can adjust for my body type.

I followed all the steps and made it to step 7 before i stopped sewing for the day. I don't want to push my luck. Everything was going along so well. Which if you craft knows that is the moment just before problems begin. Better to quit while you are ahead.

I tried it on and it looks like it might be a perfect fit!
