Skirt making
I began a new pattern make over the weekend - the Sybil skirt form Love notions. The version I selected was the swing skirt (basically a circle skirt). I printed out the pattern pieces and taped them together.

The pattern included pocket pieces and who does not like a skirt with pockets? This turned out to be a mistake. I followed the pattern directions but when I went to attach the yoga waistband I encountered difficulties. At this point I am going to have to dismantle the top of the skirt and take out the pockets. I will then resew the side seams and attach the waistband.
The waist band is a yoga band. I added some elastic into the waistband. I was worried with the heft of the knit that the skirt might not stay up exactly as required due to gravity.
Sounds like an easy addition - right. Well....you need to remember to add in the elastic with wrong sides together not right sides.

Luckily I didn't sew the entire waistband together before i realized my mistake. Here is the start of the correct fabric placement.

Luckily I had just bought some 1 inch wide elastic for another project so I had the correct size in my notion stash.
I am still working on the skirt - the pockets fiasco needs to be repaired.
