Sweater Progress
IA new cast on for the Antler Peak sweater by Kay Hopkins of Knit for the Soul. Suffered the normal struggle to get the right length to cast on all the stitches. I tried a few different suggestions I found online and I think I may have found at least one that will work 75% of the time.
I learned new techniques including how to increase the back of a sweater so hopefully it will hang correctly using German short rows. Thank goodness the designer included a link to a pdf that demonstrated the method. The increases were done correctly but still had difficulty completing one of the rows. A quick email to the designer and she recommended 2 options, just keep knitting the extra round would not really matter in the long run or visit my local yarn shop for help.
I went with option number one, since I don't really enjoy visiting the only local yarn shop in my area (that is another post topic). I just knit the round without the turning and it seems to be working out just fine.
The yarn is quite a delight to knit. It is a DK weight. I have not knit much with DK weight yarn, but I think it might become a new favorite. It is not as heavy as worsted weight and drapes better.
I am past the pattern for the yoke and am heading into separating for the sleeves. The small bit in front is all I have left of the first skein.
A close up of the yoke motif. The picture colors are very different. The true color of the yarn is somewhere between the 2 pictures posted, probably closet to the first picture in the post.
