Thursday Reads

I finished When the Empire Was Divine by Julie Otsuka. I should have quite a few finishes next week since I am close to finishing quite a few books. I just need to buckle down and read the last little bits in them.

Kindle Ebook

The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson. This appears to be the Swedish version of Forrest Gump. Mostly unbelievable, but maybe they are going for irony?

Car Audio

Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr. I had to return this to the library so it will be in the waiting to come around again category for a while.

The Secret Diary of Henrick Groen 83 1/4 years Old by Henrick Groen. Translated from the Dutch. A diary kept by the author of his life in a retirement home.

Ipod Audio

The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. The main character has married, given birth, disowned her family and escaped to Egypt. I am wondering if she will encounter her youngest brother Joseph. He of the coat of many colors, sold into slavery by his jealous brothers.

Hardcover Book

Before She Was Helen by Caroline B. Cooney. A mystery set amongst a retirement community. The author has written many YA novels and is now trying her hand at writing for adults. It moves very quickly and is well-written.

For Whom The Book Tolls by Laura Gail Black. This is the first in a mystery series set in North Carolina. A woman inherits a bookshop from her murdered uncle. Semi-cozy mystery, no foul language.
