Christmas Gifting

You have seen the hats I sew for my students. Yesterday I was finally able to gift them a hat and a favorite book.

I read the book to them and they loved it. It is quite a funny book with a great message about how being different from others is not a bad thing.

My students were so excited to get the book and the hat. They put the hats on right away and I heard one of my little cuties exclaim, “I am never taking this hat off!” It is sweet because the majority of my students have never received a handmade gift.

We then broke for afternoon snack. They took their books to their seats and almost all of them began “reading” the book quietly out loud pretending to be the teacher. I read the book with lots of expression and sound effects (the students were all recreating the sound effects and funny voices). Nothing warms a teachers heart more than seeing students enjoy a reading experience.
