Hot Cross Buns
A few years ago I came across a great recipe for hot cross buns. I will admit I had really only heard the nursery song before. I did not grow up making or eating hot cross buns. Once I discovered the recipe they are always on my Easter table.
I used raisins, dried pineapple and dried appricots for my fruits. The dough turns out a lovely color.
Here they are just before being placed in the oven, after the 2nd rise.
They came out delicious as always and we enjoyed them for a few days after Easter also. If you don’t put the crosses on them they are just a lovely fruit bun. Perfect with a cup of tea or coffee. The buns are not overly sweet.
