Last Christmas Sew?

I finished the last of my Christmas present sews. A pair of pj shorts for my DH. I have been using the same pattern for his pjs for years. I have semi-perfected it at this point. I can finish a pair including cutting the fabric in about an hour.

On one of many fabric trips I found what I thought was a flannel. After washing it and drying it I am not convinced it is a “true” flannel. I think I checked the bolt label since that is just a habit and it must have read flannel. It is the thinnest flannel I have ever used.

I did a few new things on this pair. I have been noticing pj pants in stores and looking at the way they finish the waistbands. My DH hates elastic waistbands on his pjs. I have been using cord or twill tape to make the ties for him for years. On this pair I made two small buttonholes in the front. I used those to thread the twill tape ties. I also sewed the ends of the twill tape.

We shall see if these are acceptable to the client. If not I am sure I will be told what I need to fix next time. I might be sewing myself a new pair of pj pants tomorrow depending on what else I did to accomplish, but this is the last Christmas present I need to sew.
