New Sweater Dress

A new to me indie pattern company is Copper Creek/DIY patterns. I have bought a few patterns from them and been happy with each make. I bought the Malala Sweater a few months ago and finally got around to making one.

It is pattern where you think the colllar is going to be so finicky, but using the video tutorial mine came out pretty much as pictured in the pattern on the first try.

At first I was just going to make the sweater top but then after looking at my fabrics I changed my other mind. I made the dress version. It used up almost every scrap of fabric (well it didn’t help that I had to cut out the front twice due to a measurement error). If I had simply made the top I would have had leftover fabric, but not enough to make anything else.

I believe the fabric is from Mily Mae fabrics. It looks lovely but is a little persnickety to cut. I wish I had more of the fabric to make a longer band on the bottom but it is what it is.

I added the band because anyone who has been here for a while knows I dislike hemming. I found the perfect “fancy” buttons in my button collection. I only had 2 which is exactly the quantity I needed.
