11/12 Tiny Needle Tuesday

I did some outlining with a brown color and added in 1 or 2 stitches at a time in one color for flower centers. I became distracted by my DD who had bought herself a small cross stitch kit the other day. She needed help in setting up her work. The hoop they gave her was absolute junk so I dug out one of my better hoops to help her out.

I understand that kit manufacturers do not want to put high quality materials in kits they sell at big box stores but it discourages new stitchers. The aida cloth feels horrible, the thread is not DMC and the hook is frankly unusable. If this was what you want to start a new hobby I do not see how many people would stay at it.

I am probably dating myself but I began with kits from Columbia-Minerva which contained higher quality materials. If she keeps at it I will be buying her a more upscale nicer kit from an indie producer for Christmas. It is so much nicer to pursue a hobby when you have the correct functioning tools.

Anywoo I thought I needed to change hoop position on my piece so snapped a photo of it wrinkles and all. I really have made progress!
