4th Sewing FO of 2024
I wanted to try out a new pattern from Rivet pattern Company, the Allegro Crossbody bag. I purchased the pattern when it was released and it arrives with a wonderful video tutorial. This is make #4 in the Peekaboo pattern 2024 challenge for those playing along.
Now, not one to make things easy for myself I decided I want to make it out of faux leather and quilting cotton. I lined the pieces as directed. In the end I deconstructed the majority of the bag to remove the foam padding on the faux leather. My machine was having none of the super thick layers. It was also unnecessary because the faux leather had enough structure.
There were quite a few pieces involved. I did manage to get them sewn together.
This view shows the inside of the bag with the zipper attached just before I put the binding on top.
One feature I liked is the hidden strap connecters. They were easy to complete, though the video helped me immensely.
I also made the faux leather strap which is adjustable. The bag is angled, has in inside zippered pocket and two pockets on each outside (5 pockets total).
It was a fun project. I already know what I would do differently on my next one. I made this as a present for a family member. I will be sending it off to them within a few days. I already warned them if they do not like the bag to send it back because I will use it.
It stretched my sewing muscles and that is always a good thing.
