All Points South

The summer before Covid my family traveled to Flagstaff, AZ. My husband was running in a race and we all tagged along. Flagstaff is a great place to visit. It has so much natural beauty and lots of activities. Flagstaff also has a yarn shop, Purl In The Pines. It is a lovely shop with friendly staff. I try to visit local yarn shops whenever I travel. Souvenir yarn is the best. I bought a few skeins of local yarn and all the knitters in the shop were raving about a pattern by Casapinka, All Points South.

It is not a poncho, but could be worn as one if desired. I really liked the look of the pattern. I did not buy the pattern (they did not have copies, you purchase online and download the pattern) nor the yarn, but filed away the name. A few months later I did purchase the pattern and even printed it out. I do not do well when i try to knit from a pattern downloaded on my phone (old eyes).

Well it had to wait a while until I found the yarn to fit the pattern. I am knitting it with yarn I purchased from knitcrate.com, La Brebis Light Alpaca. It is a nice yarn and the proper weight. I am hoping it will not grow with wear.

I am about 1/2 way through the pattern. In real life there is more of a contrast between the 2 colors in the red family. The colors are rust red, brown and pine green. The pictures do not do justice to the actual colors of the yarn. The bottom of the photo (large bit of green) will actually be the top of the item when it is completed.
