April Showers & Reading

We really have not had too many April showers here, but there has been reading. I abandoned The Storm We Made by Vanessa Chan. It was just too dark a subject matter for me. I did not want to read about brutality. I finished Gap Creek by Robert Morgan. I enjoyed the book, but how many terrible events can happen to one couple in a book. It seems like some readers are offended that it is written by a man when the main character is a woman. This is not the first book in which that same dynamic occurs so I am not sure why the negative reviews. I was not able to finish Becoming Mrs. Lewis by Patty Callahan Henry. Reviewers i trust did state that the first 2/3s is a bit slow going but it picks up toward the end. I was 1/3 of the way through and thought I just cannot. I had absolutely no interest in what happened to the characters and found the main character just too much.

Audio Book

Spare by Prince Harry. I was not overly interested in the book, the reviews have been mixed. I returned the other horrid audio book I was suffering through and thought well let's give it a try. It is quite long - maybe he is used to everyone having to listen to his opinions? We shall see.

Kindle Book

Jane Austen at Home: A Biography by Lucy Worsley. I have enjoyed and learned so much from every book I have read by this author and I know this one (which I have just begun) will be no different.
