August Reading
I finished Into the Water by Paula Hawkins. It was a good summer read. The ending was a little surprising,
Hardcover Book
The Lion in the Lei Shop by Kaye Starbird. This is an older book that was very difficult to find until Nancy Pearl reissued it recently. It tells the story of the attack on Pearl Harbor from the perspective of the family of a serviceman who was stationed on the island at the time. It has 2 narrators, a 5 year old girl and her mother. The father is stationed on Hawaii and they live on base housing. The book was written approximately 30 years after the war. I find it very interesting.
Car Audio
American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I am almost halfway through the listen of this book. It continues to be odd and hard to describe. I will say I could do without the sex descriptions and discussions of female anatomy.
The Garden of Evening Mists by Tan Twan Eng. I keep trying to listen to this book. The narrator's voice is so soothing I find myself drifting off when listening.
