Christmas Pajama Pant Sewing

My DD actually asked me to sew her something. She requested some pajama pants in Snoopy Peanuts fabric. I received her approval on the fabric purchase. I haven't sewn anything for her in more than a year or two I bought the standard amount of fabric I had been used to purchasing for her when I made her pants in the past. Darn that child she has grown and now requires more than 2 yards of fabric for pants!

In this picture the pants are folded up. I didn't have enough space to unfurl them! I had to do some fancy sewing work. You may notice that Snoopy appears to be laying a different way on the bottom of the pants. Oh boy I was just able to squeeze out the remaining yardage needed to lengthen them but not in the correct direction.

Per her request a few years ago her pants always receive bound pockets. always put pockets with binding on her pants. To fancy them up a little bit I attached the extra length with matching piping. I am actually quite happy with the piping. I have had difficulties in the past with attaching binding. This time I remembered to sew as close as possible to the piping to get a tight fit.

She picked out a second fabric at the same time so I will get a chance to practice piping again when I have to length the next pair I make her. I only bought 2 yards of that fabric too! Lesson learned she now needs 3 yards to make a pair of pants.
