Christmas Purse
Who am I? I have a completed item in time to use on the actual holiday! I wanted to make a Christmas purse. I might become that woman who changes her purse based on the season. I made another Ethel from the Swoon Pattern company. I did lengthen the handles. The handles on my last one were fine but did seem just a tad shorter than I would have liked. Now I think on this version I may have lengthened them a little too much.
At first I was going to make an Elf on the Shelf purse. The fabric I had in my stash was white. White for a purse - um that's a hard no. One use and it would be dirty. I also had some Polar Express fabric, but frankly I have never been a fan of the book or movie. I am also not too big a fan of Elf on the Shelf. I tried it one year in my classroom. After about a week my Elf rarely moved, which my student noted. I thought this is way too much work. I have no idea how parents do it at their homes.
Then I remembered I had bought some cute Christmas flamingo fabric. It does not scream Christmas since not every flamingo has a Santa hat. I also had the perfect green for the lining that matched the outside.
On this version I bought all the listed interfacings. I bought all the interfacings during a Black Friday sale. My first version I used what I had in my stash. It did make a difference. I feel like this version is sturdier. I also bought purse feet and installed them.
Here is the finished bag. I am quite pleased with myself and my sewing.
