Completed Robe

Oh last week I left you with a cliff hanger. I had completed about 1/2 of the robe and ran out of material for the band.

I sewed all the parts together. Right after this I sewed in a bottom hem. Now onto the issue with the front band. Looking through my little scrap stash of fleece I found some white. I had to piece 2 longer pieces together to get the yardage. It worked lovely for a nice finishing front band.

I read the directions for attaching the band and thought no, I just want to add it my way. Using my serger I matched the raw seams together and serged them. I laid the serge edge toward the robe and did some top stitching. It worked and I like the look.

When I make another version I will shorten the sleeves. The sleeves on this are the right length, right to my wrist. I prefer to have 3/4 length sleeves because sometimes I am making a quick breakfast in a robe and I dislike having to fold back or push up sleeves to keep them out of the way. I am also thinking that I will simply cut the back piece on the fold so I have no back seam. The seam I believe is there to assist with shaping. It is a robe I am not that interested in shaping.

The completed robe. It stays closed in the front, which I always believe is a main function of a robe. It is comfy and used up some fabric collection stash.
