Dino Nugget Plushies

I have bought more than a few patterns from the company Patterns for Pirates. Each December they gift some amazing free patterns for adorable items. This year one of them was a pattern for Dino Nugget plushies.

Who has not enjoyed a dino nugget? I know my DD ate (and still sometimes eats) dino nuggets. I bought a yard of fake fur at Hobby Lobby and then also found the perfect color sherpa at Joanns.

I made the sherpa versions first. It is amazing how easy they actually are to complete. Later I tried the fake fur ones. Let me tell you if you need to clean your machines and sewing space cut some fake fur. A day later and my nose was still itchy from the fluff. It looked like some sort of terrible accident with stuffing after I was finished with the cutting.

By the way my machines are now much cleaner since I had to vacuum them out after sewing the fluff. The sherpa was not an issue, but the fake fur!

The lighter ones are the fake fur. I think they turned out adorable. On the internet people have bene shrinking the pattern to make smaller versions, enlarging to make even bigger ones. Some have even made them into a purse. Lots of dogs and cats seem to be getting little ones in their stockings this year.

It is a very easy sew and makes a delightful present. I thought about making them into a rice heating pad. I would make a smaller inner liner and construct it so the outer piece could be removed easily for washing. I would not feel comfortable placing either sherpa or fake fur in the microwave to heat up a rice bag.
