Earrings, but not quite what I was looking for

I have a graduating senior in my family this year. This calls for new earrings. I cut out tiny graduation caps in the 10 mm size and attached to posts.

I am a little disappointed. I made stud earrings before using all the same elements but these look cloudy. I will most likely try again and see if I get a different (hopefully better) result.
