End of the Year Shirt
In years prior to Covid we had a traditional kindergarten promotion program at school. Last year and this year we have had a drive thru ceremony to mark the end of the kindergarten year. By the way, I do not remember doing any special program when I finished kindergarten (way back in the dark ages).
The students love the parade! They feel very special to ride in a decorated car and get waves and cheers. This year we even had the cheerleaders from the local middle school come to cheer them on! Some parents were upset that we did not have a traditional ceremony. I was not excited about being in my classroom with lots of unmasked people. The covid numbers continue to rise in my area. We also would have had to limit the number of invited guests (which also would have annoyed the parents). The parade was much more inclusive. We did it after the dinner hour and lots of people brought one or more cars to join in the parade. The programs where students perform are simply for parents since the majority of young children do not enjoy performing in front of large crowds. Okay, I will get off my soap box.
Of course for such a fun event we needed some fancy tshirts to wear. I made these using holographic heat transfer vinyl. They turned out super cute. I made them for my whole teaching team and my administration. We looked super cute all dressed up for the parade.
Everyone had a great time. We also wore them again on the last day of school. I got a ton of compliments on the shirt from fellow teachers (who are not lucky enough to teach kindergarten!).
