Festival Yarn

Every wonderful knitter knows that yarn and goodies purchased at wool festivals is not allowed to be counted in your stash. That's my story and I am sticking to it! I would like to say I have a system for going to a wool festival but that would be overstating things. I believe I have an idea of what I want before I enter the Festival grounds, but once surrounded by all the wonderfulness of all the fluff that is quickly abandoned (this happens in wool shops also).

This year I had an accomplice in my adventures - cue joyous music - my DD. My mother taught me many things before her untimely death. The time we spent crafting together is a precious memory. I hope to create some of those same good memories with my own DD. I recently taught her to knit. She is a natural and is a fast knitter. In the span of a few weeks she has knit a super tiny scarf for the cat, a blanket for the cat and is now working on her 4th dishcloth (now if I only enjoyed washing things like dishes we would be set LOL).

Anyway she very quickly located her 2 skeins for purchase. Then her and DH went off to view the animals. I did actually have a plan for the festival - I walked and looked at everything before deciding where I wanted to spend my money. I always try to purchase from new to me dyers. The dyers I purchased from last year have had other purchases made in prior months from their online shops. It would be great if I could buy from each dyer but space and money do not allow such an indulgence.

I found the most beautiful sock set The Ginger Needle. She had a booth that included her toddler son who proudly proclaimed that the lady I was speaking to was his mommy.

The colors I just could not resist. Maybe if my sister behaves herself I might knit her a pair of socks since her favorite color is purple.

My next purchase was from Knudsen Knits. She sells minimally processed heritage breed wool - her booth was also stunning. I picked up yarn to knit the Pressed Flowers scarf. The yarn is processed by a mill in New York state so of course it had to come back to a native New Yorker.

Oh look at those delicious colors! My last purchase was a kit from Noti Yarns (it appears like she is on Facebook, but her website is currently under repair). I was struck by the deep green color of the yarn. The kit came with the yarn and pattern.

All in all another successful venture into the Flagstaff Wool & Fiber Festival. It is always held the first weekend in June if you are ever in the area during the time frame.
