Finished Knitting Object
I finished the latest pair of socks I had on the needles for Sock Camp 2023. I used the Slipping Sideways pattern from Lolodidit. It is a delightful pattern and knits up very quickly.
Knit Picks Felici in the colorway Hotshot was the stash yarn selected. More than a year ago I tried another pair of socks with this yarn. Gauge was difficult to achieve. Once I achieved gauge the sizing was still not right due to the stitch pattern. The stitches used made the sock very tight. I had to frog the sock because it did not fit. The pattern went to time out and the yarn was placed back in the collection.
I did modify the length of the sock. After knitting a few pairs I have decided I like ankle socks, not mid calf. To shorten the length I did 10 rows of knit purl for ribbing and then went right into the slipping stitch pattern. I only did 2 repeats of the pattern before I began on the heel.
I have also discovered a heel that fits me very well and is easy to complete, the Dutch Heel (AKA square heel). The designer of this pattern uses them on her socks and both pairs (of her patterns) I have knit using this heel have given me the best fit yet. They have received their bath and now are resting in the sock drawer.
