Friday Rambling

Last weekend I went to my local bird preserve early in the morning. I am not into birding, but the preserve is close to my house, very quiet and has lovely walking paths. I took about a half hour walk and saw maybe 3 other people. I dislike walking in my neighborhood due to traffic and dogs. I also have never felt completely safe walking in the neighborhood. I have been barked at my very large dogs, seen loose roaming dogs which I then have to cross streets and go different ways to avoid and just plain strange people walking around. Also part of the loop around my neighborhood is not on a major street but you would not know this based on the speed at which the cars driving the street travel. These are the same reasons why I own both an old fashioned pedal bike and an electric bike but I never bike around my neighborhood either.

At the preserve you have to check in at the entrance, they take your name, and there is only one entrance/exit door which passes right by the desk which always has an actual person sitting there.

Here is a picture of one of the ponds. I know not a bird in sight. I swear it is actually a bird preserve.
