Ham Stock
Still finding things in the freezer to make into other things. I had saved some ham bones and decided to use them to make stock.
I don't really have a recipe for stock. I just dump lots of things in a crockpot, turn it on and leave it alone for over 8 hours.
I listed all the ingredients on the lid. After it has cooled I place the strained stock in the fridge overnight. The fat congeals on top. It is easy to then remove and viola I have fat free stock.
This stock is especially delightful to use when making rice. I have also used it to cook beans when I am making a batch of baked beans. I always put bacon in my baked beans so the ham stock adds a depth of pork flavor to the entire dish.
