Home Repair

Last week I noticed a slight burning rubber smell from my washer when in use. A burning rubber smell is never good. I did a little internet research and then my DH got busy. He took apart the washer one day.

We love this washer. We bought it right before we got married at Sears. It has served us very well for over 20 years. We have no interest in buying a new washer. We have both over the years repaired little issues with the washer as they have arisen.

After taking it apart he found the offender.

He was pretty sure this was the culprit. This machine has no belts so we knew it was not that issue. When he took the washer apart he found very tiny pieces of rubber where it should not have been from the motor coupler. He ordered a new one for $9 and it was delivered the next day.

The washer is now all back together and purring like a satisfied kitty. He also replaced the washer agitator dogs for an extra $6. Here is to hopefully at least another 20 years of laundry being washed.

I am not the only crafty/DIYer in the house. One of the reasons we love this washer is there are actually very few parts to it and it is a direct drive, no belt needed. It is easy to repair and maintain.
