Irish Socks

I had to take knitting with me on vacation. After all there were long plane and train rides involved. I find socks to be some of the best travel knitting. The needles and yarn do not take up much space. It is also easy to slip into a small bag for carrying purposes. After all I need the space in my luggage for souvenir yarn!

The yarn I selected was Paton's Kroy in a self striping colorway. I inherited both my mothers and grandmothers knitting bags. I am not sure who used this stitch counter. It is easy for me to attach to a project. I adore getting an opportunity to use the same knitting notions they once held in their hands.

I used the Crazy Sock Lady Heel Toe Do Si Do pattern. It is a very well written pattern with just a 2 row easy to memorize pattern. It really shines when using self striping yarn.

They are almost twins in the striping pattern. I make the smallest size for my little princess feet. I also did a princess foot and put the purl bumps on the outside of the bottom of the foot.

Here is my attempt at an artistic picture. I knit the socks on the plane and train in Ireland. Here they are at the Cliffs of Moher. I finished the socks as the plane landed at LAX. A perfect travel knit - I named the project when Irish Eyes are Smiling.
