Joggers

I thought I would like jogger pants, but it turns out I am not too sure. I made two trial runs of the Good Vibe Joggers from Ellie & Mac. The first pair I adjusted the pant leg length and it was perfect!

I watched lots of youtube videos on measuring yourself for sewing. I found one that discussed how to measure inseam, and leg length. A common mistake is to go by just your inseam. It turns out that your legs like everything on your body are not exactly divided into equal halves. I measured my inseam. Then I measured from my natural waist to mid knee cap. Second measure was from my mid knee cap to my ankle. Turns out that those two measurements do add up to my inseam but are actually different measurements. My leg is longer from the knee to the ankle then from the hip to the ankle.

The other important information you need is what height the original pattern is drafted. All of the patterns I have been using are drafted for women much taller than me. No wonder I was often disappointed in my sewing.

So first pair perfect in length but the rise was not close to perfection. Decided to measure my front and back rise. Suspenseful music cue....yep you guessed it they are different. Once I knew them I could adjust the rise of both the front and back.

Made my second pair. These fit nicely except this is when I realized that I don't like the jogger style of pants! Makes sense if I had actually thought about since I have never in my life bought myself a pair of joggers in ready made clothes.

Oh well, I certainly learned alot about measuring and got lots of good measurements on my body. I am using them to modify my current sewing patterns.

These will be fine to wear around the house when cleaning, etc. Who knows maybe I will turn out to like joggers after all.
