New Purse

Well after the disaster of lunch bag making a few weeks ago I decided to go with an established pattern company. I have made a few things from the Swoon pattern company which really only sells bag patterns. Each pattern is well written and illustrated. There are also lots of youtube videos of others who have made the patterns.

I used the Ethel pattern, which is actually a free download. We have a winner people! I used the same outer fabric as I used for the lunch bag. I still have quite a lot of it in the collection so expect to see it a few more times. For the inner liner I used a 1 yard piece of flannel I had. It is adorable and is sewing themed.

liner

You can just see a little bit of the liner or inner fabric.

The directions were very well written. I did have to buy just a little bit of a stiffer interfacing to give the bag body.

Outer layer

Everything fit the way it was supposed to and the sewing was easy. The pattern has 2 outside pockets and 2 inside pockets.

Inside of completed bag

You can see how nicely everything fits in the completed bag.

I am so pleased with this project. There were a few things I would do a little better on the next one.

I needed a new bag with some pockets. The current purse I was carrying was driving me slightly batty. It had no pocket or place to stash my cellphone. Every time I placed it in my purse it immediately fell right to the bottom. It involved quite a bit of digging to extract. I plan on using one of the outside pockets to contain the cell phone.
