Pillows

I had two cute pillows on the couch for the holidays, but really you cannot have Christmas decorative pillows on your couch in mid-January. Well, you can but it looks a little strange. Cricut iron-on vinyl to the rescue.

I had some 16x16 blanks which I was planning on using to make some new pillow covers, but then I went to Ikea. Blanks are what you can use to make items with iron-on vinyl (and lots of other fun things).

I was just wandering around in the store and came across lots of decorative pillows, but nothing I really liked. I knew that there must be pillow covers somewhere in the store and I finally found them. They come in a few different colors. I picked up more than the one cover in various colors and they are awaiting the magic of iron-on vinyl.

Now, you can either make your own SVGs or buy them. I have signed up for a video course to learn how to make your own designs in Cricut Design Space, but.... The designs I used on the pillows I purchased.

This was a perfect design because we actually are owned by a black cat and we drink a lot of tea at our house.

We also have a dog. You know how kids are you cannot make for one and forget the other.

Pillow Inserts

Now, of course I had 16x16 pillow inserts, not 20x20, but Ikea has a magical section near the check out lanes called "Clearance." At least the Ikea I frequent has this lovely spot. It consists of items that others have returned. I always wonder through when I visit just because you never know! It was my lucky day because I found 2 20x20 pillow inserts that were each marked at $1.50. One seemed a little fuller than the other but they both would work for my purposes. I scooped them up and popped them right into my cart.

As an aside what is the deal with Ikea carts. They have 4 wheels but each wheel seems to go in 5 different directions. I feel like I'm playing tug of war each time I use one the carts. I have taken to just grabbing one of the yellow bags if they are available.

The pillows look great on the couch and I can hold my head up high because I do not have Christmas pillows out as we head into February.
