Rainbow Throw - FO Crochet

I totally "blame" this project on Taylor Earl of Wool Needles Hands. She discussed this very item on one of her podcasts at least a month ago (if not longer). My first yarn craft love was crocheting, though I do not do anywhere near the amount I did years ago before I got back into knitting. Also crochet pattern designing has come along way since the 1990s - just sayin'.

By the by this is a real time shot of the sky. Those of you following along know my mastery of the phone camera. I can barely manage to get photos taken with the phone, let alone do any fancy edits. No touch ups on the photo-just a pure blue sky with not a cloud in sight.

The yarn I used was what was suggested in the pattern - Lion brand Mandala. I bought 4 skeins of it since it was on sale buy one get a second 1/2 off. I believe the pattern only called for 3, but since I had a 4th I added it into the fun and just extended it. This means I will not have a random ball of this in the collection looking sad and forlorn because it was not selected to be used in a creation.

It was a very addictive crochet project. There is just something about fade or striping yarns that just wants you to keep going when you are working on them. I completed this in just over a month!

The little ball on top is all I had left. I tried to use every last piece, but it was 2 chevrons short of a full row.

Now each of us will have a blanket or wrap to use when on the couch. I crocheted 2 other blankets years ago and they currently live on the couch. My daughter especially loves to curl up under one of them. Sometimes when I sit down after finishing kitchen clean up in the evening all the blankets are in possession of others and I had nothing to snuggle under.

This should fix that issue. My husband did remark on how he believes this one will now be our daughter's favorite. The pattern called for fringe on each end. I am not much of a fringing girl. Too many ponchos from the '70s as a very young girl. Also I can never get fringe to be even looking. You know just snip a little bit here and before you know it the item has no fringe and is completely bald.

I think it is a stunner of a piece and am very happy with the end result.
