YOP Week 3/53

It is much too hot to do anything outside so lots of time inside to work on projects.

Knitting

  • 6 pairs of socks
  • Finish the Naughty Sweater 7/6/23
  • Finish the sweater for my sister
  • Summer sweater knit (Vibes)
  • cardigan for me
  • Stephen West project
  • Row and Kates project
  • Tifneilan project
  • Petite Knits project
  • Melissa K designs project
  • Stephanie Lotven design project
  • Joji Locatelli project

Weekly Update: I have a pair of socks on the needles. I am on the struggle bus with this pattern. I did at least 4 gauge swatches. I have almost knit a complete sock twice but keep frogging due to sizing issues. I have finally done what I should have done at the beginning and reverse engineer the pattern from toe up to cuff down. I have also been working the sweater for my sister. I have finished the majority of the body and one sleeve. Now I remember why I prefer top down sweaters. On the plus size it is a bulky weight yarn so the knitting does go faster.

Crochet

  • finish the lace tablecloth I began in 1997
  • finish Sundance Throw finished 7/9/23
  • Sophia dish towel

Weekly Update: The Sundance Throw (which I renamed a rainbow) is off the hook and happily in use. My DH has already christened it and declared it perfect for napping. I also began work on the Sophia dish towel.

Cross stitch

  • finish Tower of London card
  • finish Mom project I began in 2000 (this will be the hardest to complete. I was working on this project when my mother passed away)

Weekly Update: I am trying to put in at least 30 minutes every day on the Tower of London piece. It is moving along and I can see progress.

Cricut

  • 12 pairs of earrings
  • 2 engraving projects
  • make 6 cards
  • 1 balsa wood project
  • 6 vinyl projects

Weekly Update: I go back to teaching in the new school year in a few short weeks. I am beginning to use my Cricut to make a few items for my classroom. One of the first things I always make are removable vinyl line up number spots. If you have ever asked a group of young children to line up you might understand why numbers on which to stand to line up orderly might be a great idea.

Canning (canning meals in jars)

  1. Vindaloo Curry
  2. pork ribs
  3. beef stew
  4. beef stroganoff in a jar
  5. corned beef & potatoes
  6. white chicken chili 7/6/23
  7. chicken gravy
  8. watermelon lemonade concentrate (originally chicken a la king) 7/10/23
  9. marinera sauce
  10. can 5 pounds of sweet potatoes
  11. pulled pork barbeque
  12. Ham-Bean soup

Weekly Update: A change in plans. I remembered I canned chicken al la king a few years ago and while we ate all the jars it was not much requested. Magically changed it to Watermelon Lemonade Concentrate instead.

Sewing

  • complete 2 hoodies
  • sew 6 dresses
  • sew 6 bags

  • sew 4 pairs of pants
  • sew 6 shirts
  • sew 4 woven (fabric) patterns
  • sew 4 knit (fabric) patterns

Weekly Update: I finished my new lunch bag, the Hudson. This was a big sew project so will actually be 3 blog posts. I am also trying to sew up a few muslins to check the fit on patterns.

Overall Goal: enter at least one item in my county fair.
