Reading for the Week
I finished The Children Act book. Not an all time favorite. I do not think I will be acquiring a "taste" for Ian McEwan books. I finished listening to Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine, and the Murder of a President. It was interesting to discover that they really did not try to cover up the fact that the medical doctors were in reality the reason why Garfield died. The bullet wound he suffered was not too serious. In fact, this exact argument was raised in the trial of the would be assassin.
Physical book
Desire Lines by Christina Baker Kline. This is not a great book, just okay. I have read two other books by the same author (The Exiles and A Piece of the World). Those books were more enjoyable than this one. The main character is unlikeable in many ways. It deals with the aftermath of a night after high school graduation when her best friend disappears.
Kindle Ebooks
Prague Winter: A Personal Remembrance and War, 1937-1948 by Madeline Albright. I am now at 42% in this book. This is my reading while waiting around boo. This explains why I am not near finishing it anytime soon.
Car Audio
A Line To Kill by Anthony Horowitz. I have hit a snag with this book. Read the blog post tomorrow to find out why.
56 Days by Catherine Ryan Howard. This is a covid mystery. You knew the pandemic would soon be showing up in literature. It concerns two people who are newly dating who decided to enter lockdown together. The audio version uses an Irish voice actor who is quite good. Hopefully the voice actor will not turn out to be the best part of the book.
