Sewing for Hire

I rarely take in sewing for hire. I find it nerve wracking to sew for money. If I make a mistake with my own materials I can just deal with it. it is something different when someone is paying you money to sew for them. A friend at work needed some pants hemmed and ordered more children's masks for her granddaughter.

I got 3 pairs of pants to hem and they were all an issue. The one pair I had earlier repaired and now I really cannot repair the rip in the fabric that has occurred. The third pair I shortened and put a lettuce hem on each pant leg. The second pair I cut too short. You remember the old adage measure twice cut one. It applies to sewing also but I forgot. I reattached part of each leg with a flounce. I think the pants have a 1960s flair now. Hopefully my client will think so too.

I thought that almost 3 years into the pandemic I might not still be still making masks but I am. I am one of the few people I believe who sew the masks for small children that people know. These are the four I just finished making. I have made masks for this little cutie before. She asked her grandmother for more and told her they were favorite masks. The little girl said they fit nice and are comfortable.
