Spring in the Desert - Flowers

Spring in the desert is something to behold. A few weeks when the wildflowers are at their peak.

This beauty is Brittle Brush (encelia farinosa). This is a member of the sunflower family and is very common in the desert Southwest. It received its name, brittle brush due to the fact that its stems are very brittle.

A beautiful shot of a Desert Globe Mallow (Sphaeralcea Ambigua). The tiny leaf hairs are an eye irritant so it sometimes is called sore-eye poppies or pink-eye poppies.

The common name of this poppy is Desert Gold Poppy or the Mojave Poppy, (Eschscholzia Glyptosperma)

The coloring was much more stunning in person, it is Purple Heather or Littleleaf Ratany (Krameria Erecta).
