Spring Skirt
While wandering into the fabric department of Hobby Lobby (I swear there must be a magnet there because I always seem to wander in that direction :) I saw a beautiful skirt sample. I checked it out - I think the only place you can lift up a skirt and not be looked at strangely. It was not only a unique fabric but they had lined it. I can make that I thought! Found both fabrics and snapped them up.
I decided to use the Love Notions Sybil pattern. The pattern has 7 seven variations. I knew I would need a closer skirt for the liner than for the outer layer. I used the pencil skirt for the liner and the swing version for the outer layer.
Trust me I would like to think it looks way better on my person than on my dress form. I did use the coverstitch on the hem on the inner layer (which I of course forgot to photograph - such a professional job I always do). No hem on the outer layer - the fabric is not a raveler and I was worried I would disrupt the flow if I tried to hem it. Also the outer layer is very stretchy. I cut out my regular size but it was too big and I had to take in the sides.
After I wear it in public we shall see if I want to add/subtract any ideas for the skirt. A great spring skirt.
