Upcycle Sewing
I shop at Costco, a large warehouse store. Therefore I buy staples in bulk. I have no idea when I actually bought the 50 pounds rice. We have finally worked our way though the bag enough that I could move the remaining portion to another container. I was left with a very sturdy bag and I decided an upcycle was in order. I watched a few youtube videos to get some idea. The best suggestion I found was to cut apart an actual brown grocery bag to use as your pattern.
This even folds up like a "real" grocery bag.
Only the front of the bag had all the yellow portion.
I used another portion of the very top of the bag for one of the sides.
The other side was cut from the top of the back.
Looking inside of the bag. It folds up very nicely and was a sewing success. Only problem is I would like to experiment with more rice or feed bags. Now I need to bother all of my friends to see if anyone else has an extra bag they can give me. In my "research" for making this bag I came across many interesting ideas on how to upcycle these bags.
