What I am Reading

Well, I spoke to quickly last week regarding the happiness level of Goodreads. The next day it claimed I was now 1 book behind - geesh, what a stickler! I did finish If We Were Villans by M.L. Rios. I do not highly recommend it. It just never captured my interest fully.

Physical book

The Children Act by Ian McEwan. I believe this is one of those authors readers either love or find completely unintelligible. I am not sure which camp I will follow. It is about a high court family judge in Great Britain and the difficult case she must decide. As this is occurring in her work life her long time marriage is unraveling. I am almost half way through the book. Still on the fence if I really "like" the book or not. I will keep reading, but the author may be an acquired taste.

Kindle Ebooks

Prague Winter: A Personal Remembrance and War, 1937-1948 by Madeline Albright. I am now at 35% in this book. Her family has escaped from Czechoslovakia and is now in London. I am just about to read the section from 1942-1945.

Car Audio

A Line To Kill by Anthony Horowitz. This is the third book in this series. How can you tell a mystery is character driven? When a murder does not even occur until the end of chapter 7. I am still enjoying this book. I suspect if you know the author a little better as a personal friend you might even find the books nicer than I already do.

Ipod Audio

Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine, and the Murder of a President by Candice Millard. I did listen to a little more of this book this week. The American medical profession does not do well in this book. You forget how barbaric medicine used to be (though many would argue aspects of it are still very barbaric).
