When Bad Things Happen to Good Knitters
I realize that playing yarn chicken can lead to some unhappiness on the part of knitters the world over. I had 2 small balls of Red Heart Super Saver yarn left over from the charity hats I have been knitting. I was hoping combining them in strips would lead to a completed hat.
Well I lost this game of yarn chicken. I ran out of each color just as I was beginning the decreases for the top of the hat. My plan was not to buy more yarn for charity knitting until I have used up what is already in the stash for charity knitting. I tried a few online sites just to see if the colors were still available. The ones I checked did not have any skeins of the blue available. I could only find the blue on one site and the shipping was double what the skein of yarn actually cost. The rust color has never been available in any store. I added it a long time ago to a Mary Maxim order I placed to get free shipping. Mary Maxim did not have the color in stock and no free shipping.
This hat is destined to be frogged and the colors will be used as stripes in another hat at a later date. Currently the hat is in knitting time out until I am over my mad.
